In any society there have been and will always be disputes including in politics. The dispute can be resolved by frank talk and mutual satisfaction. In the worst case scenario the stronger simply crushes the weaker party in various ways. The weaker party may be punished directly (lose job, property, jailed, killed or forced into exile) or through his/her relatives (lose job, property, jailed, killed or forced into exile). Some of them survive and wait for the moment to settle scores. When opponents or relatives are being punished, more often than not, there are witnesses, who will not forget or forgive.

Uganda has missed vital stages in economic development |

At the time of colonization in the late 19th century, Uganda had a balanced economy producing a wide range of manufactured products and foodstuffs. Different areas produced different products according to their resource endowments (comparative advantage). Some areas were good for grazing, others for fishing, others for crop cultivation, and yet others for manufacturing a wide range of products. Producers of these products met in local and regional markets including Rwanda and Congo and traded with one another, getting what they did not produce in exchange of what they produced. This specialization and exchange benefited everyone because the terms of trade were favorable. At that time Uganda was not producing cotton, coffee, tea and tobacco.
